Public Health- Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health

Public Health is a field of study focused on preventing illness and promoting health in individuals, communities, and society as a whole. The Public Health program at Miami builds on the University’s strengths in three areas: Health Promotion and Education; Human Disease and Epidemiology; and Health Policy and Administration. The program is housed jointly in the College of Education, Health and Society and in the College of Arts and Science. Students will complete a core curriculum covering the critical elements of Public Health along with additional courses focused on one of these specialty areas. According to the World Health Organization, the underlying domains in Health Promotion and Education include “good governance, health literacy, healthy settings, and social mobilization”.  In this major students will learn essential tools and skills related to planning, implementing, and evaluating public health interventions within these domains to achieve health equity. Students will also learn to build inclusive relationships among individuals, groups, and populations across different practice settings. These curricula will prepare students for either graduate school or employment in the field.
