The Business Foundations Certificate aims to equip students with business knowledge and essential skills for students without a background in business or who have relatively little or no business experience. This certificate will provide a foundation in accounting and the choice of two courses in economics, information systems & analytics, or marketing tailored to enable students to better thrive in business settings. The certificate is designed for high-performing Miami students, recent graduates, and mid-career professionals seeking to utilize their non-business specialties in a business environment. It caters to individuals from diverse backgrounds, including  technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and nonprofit sectors, who aspire to thrive in business settings.

Key Objectives

Develop Core Business Competencies

The certificate will focus on enhancing participants' understanding of how core functions in business operate and how to understand the language of business and important internal and external processes and stakeholders.

Foster Strategic Thinking

Participants will learn to think strategically by analyzing financial statements, market trends, evaluating competitive landscapes, and understanding how business strive to meet customer, investor, and other key stakeholder expectations.

Enhance Decision-Making Skills

The certificate will emphasize the development of critical decision-making skills based on data-driven insights and ethical considerations. Participants will learn to make informed decisions under uncertainty, ensuring they contribute effectively to their organizations' success.

Business Operations Graduate Certificate Requirements (Part-Time) 

Students admitted into the certificate program may choose from the courses listed for a total of (9) credit hours. The certificate will be delivered through a flexible format, allowing students to choose fully online, fully in person, or a combination of both. This blended approach ensures accessibility and accommodates the busy schedules of working professionals.
